Eagle Ford Trend Oil Study

Analysis of a Suit of Upper Cretaceous Sourced Oils from the Upper Gulf Coast of Texas

GeoMark has completed a regional assessment of Cretaceous-sourced oils along the Eagle Ford trend of the Texas Gulf Coast. The study evaluates mostly Upper Cretaceous Eagle Ford oils, but some Lower Cretaceous oils are included in the Study. In its entirety, the study involves the detailed analysis of 150 oil samples that have been sourced by the Cretaceous section in the Texas Gulf Coast.

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the chemistry and nature of the oils produced along the Eagle Ford trend and by proxy to assess the character and generating potential of the Cretaceous along the entire trend from the Mexican to the Louisiana borders. This will help exploration companies plan their leasing programs as they attempt to extend the Eagle Ford play outside of the core producing area in south Texas.

Analytical data for the study are provided digitally. Submitted with the data are maps and plots used to interpret the data. Interpretive commentary is given in an Adobe PDF.
