East Texas Petroleum Systems Study

Detailed Analysis of Oil and Gas Samples, GIS Database and Regional Interpretation

GeoMark Research has completed a regional study of the geochemistry in the East Texas region. The project identifies and evaluates each of the distinct hydrocarbon sources in the region which and contributes to more thorough understanding of the petroleum systems active in this region. In its entirety, the study involves the detailed oil analysis of over 250 oil samples and 350 gas samples.

Although the East Texas region is one of the most heavily explored hydrocarbon provinces in North America, recent exploration efforts have revealed new unconventional exploration targets (Maness Shale, Kiamichi Shale, Goodland Lime, etc.).  This study determines the number of distinct petroleum systems operating in the region and provides insight into the complexities of these petroleum systems and assist with future exploration efforts.
