Far East Oil Study: Area III – Japan, China, & The Philippines

REGIONAL PETROLEUM GEOCHEMISTRY OF CRUDE OILS FROM JAPAN, COASTAL CHINA TAIWAN AND THE PHILIPPINS

GeoMark Research has performed a regional assessment of the petroleum systems extending from Japan to the Philippines, including Bohai Bay, East China Sea, Taiwan, Pearl River Delta and the Gulf of Tonkin. This study includes the detailed analysis of a collection of 102 crude oil samples. The purpose of the study was to a) identify and characterize the petroleum systems active in each basin, b) predict the probable source rock unit, and d) assess overall potential. The results proved particularly successful in delineating the various terrestrial oils types (deltaic, paralic and lacustrine) and allowed the construction of depositional models for most regions.
