Haynesville Shale Gas Study

Organic Geochemical Characterization of Lower Cretaceous & Upper Jurassic Shale Gas Resources of North Louisiana and East Texas

GeoMark Research has completed a comprehensive regional assessment of the resource potential of the Haynesville Formation across much of the northeastern Texas and northwestern Louisiana.  The study evaluates the source potential for Haynesville, maps thermal maturity trends, and provides an estimation of gas in place.  In its entirety, the study involves the source rock analysis of over 44 individual wells, analyzed by mud gas isotope composition and routine source rock analysis.

The primary objective of this study was to evaluate and map the overpressure zone that defines the envelope of best production within the Haynesville.  The secondary objective of this study was to evaluate zones of increased permeability (as determined by isotope geochemistry) and determine how closely these zones are associated with better initial and/or stabilized production rates.

As part of this study participating companies receive free analysis of two wells, which after a period of confidentiality become part of the study.
