Rocky Mountain Paleozoic Oil Study

Analysis of a suite of Paleozoic-sourced Oils from Rocky Mountain Basins

GeoMark has completed a regional assessment of Paleozoic-sourced oils in select Rocky Mountain basins. The purpose of this study is to detect and characterize Paleozoic petroleum systems that may have been overlooked by past exploration efforts.

In its entirety, the study involves the detailed analysis of 242 oil samples (see Figure above) that have been sourced from Paleozoic source rocks.   Paleozoic source units have received limited attention because of their depth, and where they exist may represent economically attractive resource opportunities.

Analytical data for the study are provided digitally.  Submitted with the data are maps and plots used to interpret the data.  Interpretive commentary is given in Adobe PDF and PowerPoint files.  Microsoft Excel, Access, and ESRI ArcMAP are the data formats and mapping system used by GeoMark in this study.
