Spraberry Formation Resource Potential Study

Detailed Analysis of Source Rock and Oil Samples from the Spraberry Formation in the Midland Basin

GeoMark Research has conducted a regional assessment of the resource potential of the Spraberry Formation of the Midland Basin. The study maps the source potential for oil, condensate, and gas and concludes with an estimation of oil and/or gas in place. In its entirety, the study involves the source rock analysis of over 1,900 samples from overĀ 60 individual wells, and the detailed oil analysis of 30 oil samples that have been produced from the Spraberry Formation.

This project produces an organic geochemical characterization of the Spraberry Formation across the entire basin mapping parameters such as organic richness, thermal maturity and hydrocarbon in-place. These data are compared to a detailed analysis of Spraberry-sourced oils to determine if the Spraberry is indeed self-sourcing, or if hydrocarbons generated in other formations are migrating into the Spraberry.

Analytical data for the study are provided digitally. Submitted with the data are maps and plots used to interpret the data. Interpretive commentary is given in an Adobe PDF document as well as in PowerPointTM.
