Introductory & Advanced
Overview
As part of a commitment to increasing client understanding of geochemical concepts, GeoMark Research offers a range of technical courses specifically pertaining to the petroleum industry. The content of these courses is grounded in peer-reviewed publications, our own state-of-the-art interpretation skills, and the significance of “contextual” geochemistry data contained in our proprietary RFDbase.
In addition to a pair of standing courses available on-demand, we can readily expand an existing module (e.g. time-lapse geochemistry, PVT, or petrophysics) to provide more in-depth discussions and exercises tailored to your current E&P activities and/or area of interest.
The courses explore several aspects of the Petroleum System, with a focus on addressing the following questions:
- Where were the hydrocarbons generated in the subsurface? — Looking at lithologies, temperatures, depths, and timing
- Where have they migrated to in the subsurface? — Including within the source rocks, themselves
- Have they been altered by thermal, fluid, and microbial processes? — Often acting to reduce their value
- Is mixing of produced fluids from multiple organofacies evident? — From the perspective of differing molecular and isotopic compositions and/or thermal maturity of the fluids
- Have the produced fluids changed composition during the life of the well? — Time Lapse Geochemistry
