Geochemical Course Offering
Practical Aspects of Petroleum Geochemistry for Conventional and Resource Plays
This introductory course can be tailored to students with either 1) a minimal background in applied petroleum geochemistry, or 2) a working familiarity with source rock and fluid analyses. In the latter case, instructors would go directly to sampling, analytical, and interpretation caveats and, most importantly, pitfalls. We have often presented this course in a 2-day format:
- Day One — covers the background topics summarized below.
- Day Two — integrates these background discussions with GeoMark-generated client reports and ancillary data. This results in a real-time integration (and perhaps reinterpretation) of our previous work within the geological and geophysical context of the specific use case.
